Founder / Chief Consultant
I am a Libyan-American, born in Washington, D.C., with formative years spent in Libya, Europe, and Morocco, followed by secondary education in Arizona, where I completed high school. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Arizona State University. Additionally, I have completed executive education programs in Global Strategic Management at Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and in Mergers and Acquisitions at the Coles College of Business, Kennesaw State University, in Georgia.
Although I currently reside in Cairo, Egypt, I have spent a substantial portion of the past 15 years living, working, and traveling across the MENA region and Europe, with an extended period based in Istanbul, Turkey.
My professional and academic engagement with the MENA region has deepened over time to encompass research and analysis related to its political economy, investment dynamics, and strategic industries. Since 2011, I have served as Managing Director of the Real Estate and Hospitality Fund of Libya’s $67 billion Sovereign Wealth Fund. From 2017 to 2019, I held the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer at a Cairo-based real estate and hotel investment firm, and in 2019, I worked as an International Business Consultant in Istanbul, Turkey. Over the past three years, I have served as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Moro Oil USA, a company that represents several leading stakeholders in the oil and gas and steel sectors across the MENA region. In addition, I have held executive board positions in prominent investment firms based in both the United Kingdom and Tunisia.
I have a deep appreciation for international travel, having extensively explored regions including the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, and North Africa. I remain particularly interested in expanding my exposure to Central and Southeast Asia, which I have yet to visit.
Through this platform, I aim to share informed perspectives, personal experiences, and analytical insights with others who are similarly engaged with the MENA region. My areas of interest include Sovereign Wealth Funds, international business and trade, and the political economy of the Middle East and North Africa, with a particular emphasis on the influence of U.S. foreign policy in shaping regional dynamics.
